Top 5 Rainy Day Activities for Kids in Bude

If you've holidayed in Cornwall before, you'll know there is nothing better than a sunny day on our stunning beaches. But, this is England so there is a chance of a rainy day or two even in the height of Summer. Camping is a great family and budget friendly way to come and enjoy our beautiful coastline, but huddling in a tent in the rain is less fun. We thought giving you some ideas for indoor activities in Bude which will keep the kids making great holiday memories would be useful.

To help keep the kids entertained onsite we've converted one of our large barns into a games room. We've packed it full of games and toys, including a pool table, table tennis, badminton and a whole separate room for ball games like football. And whilst the children burn off their energy, you can sit in comfort on the sofas and finish that book or watch something on the widescreen TV.

If you want to get off site, there's lots of great indoor activities nearby. Here are our top 5.

1. Splash Leisure Centre, Bude

Just because you can't get in the sea, doesn't mean you can't go for a swim. Splash Leisure Centre has a 25m pool. The wave machine and flume will ensure both big and little people have a great time. And for those not fancying a dip there's an onsite cafe with views of the pool so you can watch everyone splashing around. They have also recently added 50 state of the art Technogym stations, so if you want to keep up your work out routine during your holiday, this is the perfect place for you.

2. The Venue, Bude

Right next door to Splash is The Venue, where you can get competitive on the 10 pin bowling lanes or go wild in the huge soft play jungle. The multi level soft play area has ball pits, rope climbs, spinners, spiral slides and even a death slide! Just next to it is a smaller enclosed soft play space for really little ones. If bowling is more your cup of tea we recommend going in the evening when the neon lights are on. With ramps and gutter rails all ages and abilities will have fun. The licensed bar and cafe serve cold drinks and hot food throughout the day.

3. The Big Sheep, Bideford

Although not entirely indoors, The Big Sheep offers a full day of attractions and activities with lots of undercover fun. Top of the bill is all the animals of course. Sheep are just the tip of the iceberg and you'll definitely want to make time for the Nursery Barn and Pets Corner. If there is a break in the weather head outside to the rollercoaster, quad bikes and giant jumping pillows.

4. Museum of Witchcraft and Magic, Boscastle

If you have Harry Potter fans in your tribe then a visit to the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic is definitely worth a trip to stunning Boscastle. With over 3,000 exhibits set over two floors this is the world's oldest and largest collection of all things mystical. Just up the road is The Cobweb Inn where you can grab a hearty Cornish pub lunch afterwards.

5. Air Extreme, Barnstaple

We all know kids are full of beans, so why not take them bouncing! Air Extreme has wall to wall connected trampolines where kids can bounce, flip and tumble to their hearts content. They have separate sessions for under 5s so little ones won't be out bounced, and features like battle beams, wall runs, and air ball will keep the entertainment going for hours.

We know you'll love staying at Woodview Campsite come rain or shine, and with all these fun activities the kids will too. There are many more fun places to go and we're happy to advise what's on during your stay based on your children's age and interests.
