The Best Family Camping in Cornwall

Updated: Jan 21, 2021

Here's why you should stay at the best family campsite near Bude.

This is a big claim, and yes we’re biased, but we have lots to back it up!

If you are looking for a traditional family camping holiday in Cornwall, then read on.

Our campsite is family run and set in * acres of beautiful Cornish countryside right on the Cornwall and Devon border. The site isn’t too big, so it’s easy to find your way around and settle in. We’ve worked hard to create a space where everyone can relax and enjoy their holiday, come rain or shine.

Accommodation

We offer tent pitches, caravan pitches, and our stylish glamping cabins. Whatever your preferred way to stay, we've got you covered.

Pitches have electric hook-ups, there is free Wi-Fi, and family shower rooms.

Games Room

The campsite used to be a working farm, and we have converted one of the barns into a huge games room with table tennis, pool table, badminton, TV and sofas, as well as a separate indoor football pitch. It’s the perfect place for the kids to play whilst you get dinner ready after a long day on the beach.

Firepits and Hammocks

Down by our private stream there are picnic tables, firepits and hammocks. Gather the family for a BBQ, then put your feet up in a hammock and star gaze or toast marshmallows round the fire.

Shower Rooms

We have recently added family shower rooms so that young children can stay with mum or dad whilst washing the day away. They’re spacious and help to take the logistics out of getting everyone cleaned up.

Beaches

We all love a beach day and Woodview Campsite is perfectly situated for you to get to some of the best beaches on the North Cornish coast. There are a number of beautiful beaches within a 10 minute drive, including SandyMouth Bay and Welcombe Mouth, however the beaches we would recommend are in Bude which is about 15 minutes away. Both Summerleaze and Crooklets offer sand, rockpools, and beach huts as well as surfing and body boarding. They also have RNLI lifeguards on duty throughout Summer. And the town of Bude is a great place for some window shopping and grabbing a traditional Cornish Pasty for lunch.

Family Days Out

If you’ve done a few beach days and want to try something else, there are lots of options to choose from nearby. Adventure parks like The Big Sheep and The Milky Way offer an action packed afternoon, you can explore the history of King Arthur at Tintagel Castle, or visit the famous Eden Project and marvel at it’s domes and the wildlife inside. You can find more about days out near Woodview Campsite in our dedicated blog post here or on our Activities web page here.

Shopping

Our little onsite shop carries the essentials as well as our own fresh eggs and honey, yum yum! If you need to stock up the village of Kilkhampton is a couple of miles down the road and has a small supermarket, or head to Bude where there are large supermarkets to cater for your every need.

Dining Out

Again, Bude has a wide range of restaurants and pubs. Highly recommended are Life’s A Beach, The Bank, and The Olive Tree. But closer to home The London Inn and The New Inn also serve good food and have a nice atmosphere. We’ll be happy to recommend places to you during your stay, just pop into reception and ask.

With all these unique facilities in such beautiful surroundings, we know you’ll love Woodview Campsite as much as we do.
